While the golfing experience at Colleton River is unmatched, Colleton River is so much more than championship golf in a luxurious coastal South Carolina setting. It’s a premiere private residential golf community with 1,500 acres of unspoiled land, surrounded on three sides by rivers and marshes and the fourth side adjoining the Victoria Bluff nature preserve. Eagles soar frequently over Colleton River, while alligators, egrets, and stately blue herons share a spot at the water’s edge.

Members of Colleton River are from a variety of accomplished backgrounds, creating a spirit of relaxed sophistication. Energies are now focused on a supreme quality of life. The diversity of interests is indicated in the range of activities offered. Golf, tennis, bicycling, fishing, hiking and gardening clubs, eco adventures in the tidal salt marshes, and deep water docks all serve the outdoor enthusiast magnificently.

With Colleton River’s easy access to several cities renowned as cultural centers and abundant with museums, art galleries, theatre and concert venues, the pursuit of life-long learning at a high level is wonderfully satisfied. Add to this their society of artists clubs, card playing clubs, an investment club, book club, and fitness and well-being programs, and life at Colleton River Plantation Club is always exceptional.

The two championship courses at Colleton River have been ranked in GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Greatest Courses in the U.S.” list. Not only are the courses challenging and ever-changing, but with the award-winning signature 18-hole golf courses by world-renowned golf course designers Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye, and even a Par 3 course designed by Bruce Borland, tee availability is guaranteed to members at almost any time of year.

Two grand clubhouses anchor Colleton River Plantation Club and set the stage for two nationally acclaimed championship golf courses – one designed in 1991 by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, and the second designed seven years later by World Golf Hall of Fame architect, Pete Dye. The two courses look, play and feel very different from each other, which makes for an ever-changing golf game.

The Pete Dye clubhouse is blessed with a magnificent sunrise, while the Jack Nicklaus Clubhouse enjoys stunning sunsets. The variety of challenging yet scenic golf holes has inspired avid golfers to say they never tire of their experiences on the Colleton River courses. It’s like being a member of two nationally ranked golf clubs in the same location.

One of the finest clubhouses in all of the southeastern United States, the Nicklaus Clubhouse’s 30,000 square feet contain an elegant fine-dining room, a casual bar, and a golf shop. With over 6,000 square feet dedicated to the pursuit of health and wellness, the Colleton River Fitness Center offers a myriad of ways to stay fit. At the end of a perfect day, watch your friends finish the final four holes of the Nicklaus Course from the regal clubhouse porch, and witness some of the most amazing sunsets overlooking the Port Royal Sound and the Atlantic Ocean.

The Dye Clubhouse is charmingly reminiscent of a southern plantation home and is truly a little slice of heaven. The two-story structure has 18-foot-wide porches accessed through French doors, with large columns, brick arches and tabby stucco exteriors. Inside, there is a member’s bar, casual dining area, a more formal dining room and several smaller breakout rooms. On the lower level are the golf shop, locker rooms and the Club’s library. From its wraparound porches members can enjoy spectacular views of the Chechessee River and Port Royal Sound, the marshlands, ancient live oaks, seabirds and seven of the most beautiful holes.

Colleton River truly is a golfer’s paradise. Voted Best Residential Golf Community in South Carolina—and now celebrating their 20th year—the community has received major peer and industry recognition for championship golf, fine dining, distinctive custom homes and a friendly, welcoming, benevolent membership living on what many say is the finest land in all of the Lowcountry.
